“I was ashamed of gambling because it was no good for my wife and children,” Chen says, but rather than stop, admits he was getting worse and worse. “Then I got lucky and saw a little newspaper ad that asked a few questions about gambling. When I looked at my answers, I thought ‘Oh my God, I’ve got a problem.’”. Luckily I didn't need to use it, and my gambling hadn't got to a critical stage (I am in no way making excuses or excusing myself, I just managed to nip it in the bud quickly) The lies is what my husband found so hard to forgive, and the shame I felt about lying was horrible. Signs and symptoms of a gambling problem include: getting a thrill from taking gambling risks, taking increasingly bigger gambling risks over time, a preoccupation with gambling, reliving past gambling experiences (through imagination or telling stories), using gambling as a way to escape problems or negative feelings, feeling guilt or remorse after gambling, and repeated failed efforts to cut back on gambling.
How Do I Know If I've Got A Gambling Problem
The Hollyoaks blackmailer has driven Nana McQueen to reveal a difficult secret.
Serial killer Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle) and an unknown accomplice have been using the family's dark secrets to extort them for thousands of pounds, with Nana emerging as the latest target.
In Monday's (December 14) first-look episode, Nana (Diane Langton) had to confess to Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) and Theresa (Jorgie Porter) that she was the target of the blackmailer's 'gluttony' threat.

'I've got a gambling problem. That's what that devil doll meant — my gluttonous appetite for throwing good money after bad,' Nana explained.
Nana revealed that she'd started gambling during lockdown to help pay the bills, but got carried away and ended up with a 'massive' habit.
'My mother used to say, 'Show me a gambler and I'll show you a mug'. Well, that's me, a stupid old mug,' she told Mercy and Theresa.
Nana confessed that 'the worst bit' was that she'd been 'skimming from the pub to cover [her] losses', including running up the pub's credit cards.

Mercy and Theresa decided they weren't going to let Sylver find out what Nana had done. Although she'd tried to battle Silas head-on in the past, Mercedes finally decided it was best to try to pay off the blackmail, so she went along with Theresa's plan to do erotic video chats with older men to earn quick cash.
Mercedes was eventually also able to mend fences with husband Sylver (David Tag), but when he insisted they shouldn't keep any more secrets from one another, Mercy still didn't come clean about Nana's gambling.
